Resumen:
The outcropping sediments in the Lagunas Encadenadas del Oeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires (LEO) have been traditionally considered as late Miocene in age. However, the analysis of a new mammal assemblage presented here does not allow such assertion in the light of known records for the Neogene of Pampean Region and other Neogene localities of Argentina. This and other misinterpretations of the biostratigraphic scheme for the Neogene of Buenos Aires Province promote the need of reevaluating the bio-chronostratigraphy proposed for the Pampean Region.
