Resumen:
Oxytetracycline (OTC) is widely used for the treatment of infectious diseases in pig production. In intensive farming it is commonly administered incorporated to drinking water. Interaction between OTC and water components may affect dissolution and pharmacokinetic process. Moreover, feed components present in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) may interact with the antibiotic and alter bioavailability (BA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of water hardness and presence of food in GIT on OTC bioavailability, Cmax and Tmax in weaning piglets.
