Prophylactic use of antibiotics in sows during peripartum is a common practice in pig farming. This could influence productive performance by alteration of intestinal health of the litter due to ingestion of drug residues in colostrum. The aim of this study was to establish colostrum intake, estimate oxytetracicline (OTC) residues ingested by new born piglets and its impact on the litter´s zootechnical parameters after treatment of sows with OTC during peripartum.
