Resumen:
Essential oil components (EOCs) are moleculeswith interesting application in pest control. Thus, the enhancement of theirbioavailability and manageability due to their dispersion in water can open newperspective for the preparation of formulations for the control of insect pest.Poloxamer allows the dispersion of EOCs in water due to their encapsulationinside the hydrophobic core of the copolymer micelles. Fromthis study, we concluded that it is possible to make stable micellar systems containingwater (>90 wt%), 1.25 wt% of differentmonoterpenes and a highly safe polymer (5wt% Poloxamer407) per nanoemulsion. These formulations show a high bioactivityagainst head lice. The results obtained herein showed that mortality of thedifferent formulations prepared is in the 60 % - 30 % range, being the mosteffective emulsions those containing linalool, 1,8-cineole, α-terpineol,thymol, eugenol, geraniol and nonyl alcohol which lead to mortalities above the50 %. Since these systems showed goodpediculicidal activity and high physicochemical stability, they could be a newroute for the green fabrication of biocompatible andbiosustainable insecticide formulations.
