Resumen:
Wound healing processes awake challenges either in clinical and research areas because of the social worldwide impact triggered by the increasing number of patients with chronic wounds, burns, scalds, and ulcers. Among many biopolymers used for wound dressings, Bacterial cellulose (BC) has been intensively studied1. On the other hand, chitosan (Chi) has been widely described as an excellent biomaterial for prevention of infections in wounds 2. In this work, we designed an economic viable, simple and non-toxic procedure for ex situ BC modification with Chi. The antibiotic ciprofloxacin (Cip) was incorporated to attend the demand of an antibacterial effect during the first hours of the wound dressing 3,4. Drug release and antibacterial studies were performed.
