Resumen:
At the moment, materials with hierarchical porosity wherethe presence of metal oxides nanoparticles dispersed in a mesoporous materialsare widely used in catalytic oxidation reactions1. In particular, mesoporoussilicas (MCM-41, SBA-15, SBA-16, etc.), with high surface area, ordered poreslarger than 2 nm and low interaction with deposited particles, are optimal supportsfor dispersion of active phases. On the other hand, and in order to enable thepractical application of the catalysts, it is advantageous to incorporate themon rigid structures such as monoliths or foams.Copper and cerium oxides have shown very interestingcharacteristics for the purification of the H2 streams fed to thePEM fuel cells2. Through the CO preferential oxidation reaction, thecontent of CO present is reduced, preventing the cell anode from poisoning. Inthis work, CuO-CeO2 / SBA-15 catalysts deposited on cordieritemonoliths and aluminum silicate foams were prepared.
