RENAL CDC42 AND CIP4 EXPRESSION IN AN ISCHEMIA-REPERFUSION INJURY MODELFussi MF; Tonucci F; Marquez SB; Girardini J; Monasterolo LA; Trumper L; Larocca MC; Molinas SM.Acute kidney injury (AKI) is still a significant medical problem. Renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is one of the main causes of AKI. Cdc42 is a master signaling molecule, involved in the maintenance of epithelial integrity in renal tubules. Cdc42 signals the initial events of the epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is essential in the response of the injured kidney. Our aim was to contribute to the molecular characterization of the signaling pathways involved in the development of AKI by characterizing specific features of the cdc42 pathway in the IR model. Male Wistar rats (n=6 per group) were subjected to 40 min of unilateral renal ischemia followed by 1 (IR1) or 7 (IR7) days of reperfusion. Controls underwent sham operation. AKI was corroborated by histological and functional studies. Glomerular filtration rate was reduced in IR1 (-54%, p
