Resumen:
The objective of this paper is to compare the impacts of these two types of regional integration (symmetric and asymmetric one) in terms of economic development and governance performance for developing countries. Understanding that economic development is not only about trade/ and investment incomes but about distribution as well the first standard relates more with the contents (income and distribution) and the second one, relates to process (efficiency and legitimacy). By this analysis, we will try to constitute to the literature that states that regionalism is more successful when states and countries share similarities in terms of development, social and political identity.
