Resumen:
ABSTRACT Vitamins are essential for normal health and life functions such as growth, development, maintenance and reproduction in most animals. However little information on the roles of fat soluble vitamins in shrimp nutrition has been established. Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of vitamin A in diets on growth and survival of argentine prawn Artemesia longinaris. Duplicate and triplicate groups of 7 prawns stocked in each aquarium in 2 experiments were fed with semi purified diet with different levels of vitamin A. Prawns exhibited no significant difference in growth. Survival in the second trial was significantly lower than first trial, but there was no differences among treatments in each trial.
