Yellow Cardinal censuses in Argentina

During breeding seasons 1015 and 1016 I have coordinated (with NGO Aves Argentinas) national censuses of the endangered yellow cardinal in Argentina. More than 100 people participates. Methodology involved registering the coordinates of the point with GPS, a song playback to stimulate potential wild cardinals, the registration of the number of yellow cardinals seen and the information of vegetation surrounding. This way, we manage to cover most of the historic distribution of yellow cardinals, a total of 113 cardinals were sighted at 56 points. Some of the sightings carried out were new for some localities. With this information a new distribution map was built and we have a better understanting of the habitat were cardinals are present.
