Morphology of cometry dust tails

Preliminary results of dynamic modeling of the dusttail for the comets C/2011 L4 Panstarrs and C/2007N3 Lulin are presented. To simulate the dust tail,two- and three-dimensional models was projectedonto the celestial sphere and compared with theobserved images. In the first case, we were able toget some information about the comet activity andthe range of values for β. In the case of comet Lulin,we found an average ejection velocity of theparticles equal to 5 m/s and particles sizes between0.1-1.0 μm. Our model shows in a first estimate thatthe rotation period of the comet is around 23.2hours.
