Resumen:
The feasibility of the improvement the densities of Fe based magnetic composites by means of composition control and liquid phase sintering, LPS is analyzed and correlated with their magnetic performance. The first task is performed employing mixtures of Fe with Ferro-P additions, up to 15 % (in wt.), and pressed at 700 MPa. The LPS are made at temperatures chosen from dilatometric determinations composition (1050-1100 C), in the neighbourhood of binary Fe-P eutectic composition, and under dry hydrogen flux. The resulting density increases with Fe-P contents, up to 90 % of full density of alpha-Fe. The corresponding grain and inter-granular phase distribution are analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy, dispersion energy spectrometry and X-ray diffraction. The magnetic performance, as function of the density, is analyzed with of DC hysteresis loops, determined with a vibrating sample magnetometer. The results show that Fe density improves with LPS, when the shrinkage is up to 1.5 %.
