Abstracts
Using the UNCCD definition of dry lands and the UNEP/GRID designation of aridity zones, Argentina ranks ninth in the world for total amount of dry lands, and is one of only 14 countries to have more than 1 million square kilometers of dry lands (WRI 2003). [e1]
This paper shows the implementation experience of the LADA (Land Degradation in Dry Lands) FAO Pilot Study in Argentina.
The work point out: the lessons learned; the results obtained; the challenges and constraints faced in implementation; information needs at different levels; existing capacities, data and projects on natural resource and desertification assessment; methods used and recommendations and expectations from LADA project.
