This study aims to determine the potential possessing two computer programs in architecture often used to evaluate the building sunlight for periods of time and ensure compatibility between them for practical purposes, their similarities and differences. It contrasts with the results of simulations performed on tangible models through traditional methods, using for this purpose a simulator of the solar path tangible, allowing to assess the shadows cast by the sun at different times of day and at different latitudes. Among the aspects considered are program accessibility, reliability, understanding and management, visualization, flexibility, domain models, available applications and scope thereof. The work allowed to determine the main advantages and disadvantages of each methodology for the selection and adoption of these during the design stage of buildings according to individual needs.
