Resumen:
Production of ethylene, which is a very important olefin in the petrochemical industry, can be carried out by thermal or catalytic dehydrogenation processes. The catalytic conversion of ethane under oxidizing conditions is being studied nowadays as an energy-saving method for producing ethylene. Structured reactors are a promising alternative for the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane reaction. At low or moderate temperatures, aluminum could be used as a structural material since it has excellent mechanical and thermal properties. Ni−Nb mixed oxides catalyst exhibit high activity and selectivity at low temperature ethane ODH, with ethylene yields above 40% at 400 °C. The aim of this work is to support Ni-Nb mixed oxides onto anodized aluminum substrates and evaluate the oxidehydrogenation activity and the influence of the coating aditives on the catalitic performance.
