The petrographic study of Eocene sandstones from Rio Turbio Formation(Santa Cruz province) confirms that these rocks were derived from a magmaticarc located to the west of the study area. The rocks are classified as lithicarenites. Most of the lithic fragments are felsitic volcanics, what indicates apossible acidic composition for the magmatic arc.
