Dirty hands for the sake of democracy?

In this article I argue that when fundamental moral prohibitions and fundamental moral goals conflict, moral prohibitions should always be prioritized. The main argument for this view is that there is an epistemic imbalance between respecting a prohibition and promoting a goal, in the sense that there is usually full certainty that the prohibition will be respected if the goal is not promoted, but there is usually no certainty that the goal will bepromoted if the prohibition is violated.
