">AbstractCurrently in Patagonia, Taraxacum offiinale is considered as a species that indicates grassland deterioration and not suitableforage. However, there are evidences showing its forage potential. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the potential forage use of T. offiinale in a Nothofagus antarctica (ñire) silvopastoral system in southern Patagonia by evaluating its production and quality. For this, an essay with 4 treatments (Control, Irrigating, Nitrogenous fertilization with 200 kgN.ha-1 and Irrigating + Fertilization) was performed in a thinned stand of ñire forest at southwest of Patagonia. The results showed that production varied from 704 (Control) to 1170 kgDM.ha-1 in the treatment of Irrigating + Nitrogenous fertilization. In addition, high levels of crude protein (10.3-17.6%) and dry matter digestibility (82.5-85.0%) were observed. This provides evidence of the forage quality of this specie.
