Resumen:
In the present work, nanocrystalline ZrO2-CeO2 solid solutions of general formula ZrxCe1-xO2,where x = 0.1, 0.30 and 0.5 (and where any non-stoichiometry in Oxygen is ignored), weresynthesized using three different chemical methods: cation complexation (citrate as complexatingagent), gel-combustion (employed lysine and glycine as fuel) and template-filling (templatesconsisting of porous polycarbonate films). The resulting solid solutions with different morphologies(nanopowders and nanotubes) were characterized by employing synchrotron-radiation X-raydiffraction (SR-XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A qualitative analysis of the SRXRDdata indicated that the samples exhibited a cubic phase (fluorite-type crystal structure withspace group Fm3m) or a tetragonal phase (P42/nmc space group) depending on CeO2 content.Average crystallite size, obtained from the SR-XRD data using the Scherrer equation, ranged from5 nm to 35 nm, depending on the synthesis method.
