Resumen:
The multidimensional nature of the concept of Quality of Life (QoL), the need to progress in its holistic understanding and the consideration of both, objectivelife conditions of individuals as well as the subjective assessments that these individuals carry out on their life conditions, are the most prominent scientific strategy in QoL research at the present time.In this context, the aim of this paper is to identify the relevant dimensions of QoL,to measure levels of satisfaction and to weight their relative importance in a global model of QoL among the elderly people. In order to achieve this goal and to capture properly the specific dimensions of QoL, aface-to-face survey using SEIQOL-DW instrument, which allows spontaneous responses from individuals on their QoL, was carried out in 2005. The universe was the population aged 65 years old and more living in family housing in the region of Madrid (Spain).Analytical andmultivariate statistical techniques will be applied to cope to this proposal.Differences innominating QoL dimensions as well as levels of satisfaction and weightings with respect to specific dimensions are expected.
