Resumen:
MC-LR oral prolonged exposure is worrying since implicate the principal route ofexposure and could lead to liver damages which has not had specificsymptomatology. Also this kind of exposure is not enough explored yet. The aim ofthis work was to explore the liver and intestine damages generated by oralprolonged exposure to 50 and 100 μg MC-LR/kg in a murine model. We found a 10% and 35% of hepatic steatosis for 50 and 100μg MC-LR/kg treatedanimals respectively and a dose dependent intraepithelial lymphocytes decrease. Also, were registered alterations in TBARS, SOD activity and glutathione profile in liverand intestine of mice exposed to both doses of MC-LR. In addition the presence ofMC-LR was detected in both organs which indicate that the damage generated inliver (main target of the toxin) and intestine (the most important organ involved in thetoxin absorption) is generated by the contact whit MC-LR. Our results indicate thatintermittent oral exposure at doses as low as 50 μg MC-LR/kg generates damage notonly in liver but also in intestine.)Palavras-Chave/Palabras Clave: microcystin, Low oral doses, intestine and hepatic alteration.
