Candida glabrata FKS1 and FKS2 mutations are linked to Echinocandin Resistance.

Echinocandin resistance prevalence is low but it is increasingly recongnized. In Candida glabrata there are 2 clinical cases linking amino acid subtitutions in the Fks1p and Fks2p with resistance phenotype. This work present a large collection of echinocandin resistant C. glabrata (n=27) and the mechanism of resistance in each one was studied. A wide range of mutations (14 diferent) are linked with echinocandin resistance in C. glabrata.
