A New Molecular Diagnostic Assay for Rapid Detection of Triazole Resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus.

A real time PCR method using molecular beacon was used to detect the mutations responsible of triazole resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus. To evaluate the especificity of this new method a blinded study was undertaken using a collection of 60 A. fumigatus DNA isolated from triazole-resistant and -susceptible strains. The new method showed to have 100% especificity to detect the triazole molecular mechanism of resistance.
