Echinocandin Resistance in Clinical Candida spp. Isolates.

Echinocandin resistance is linked with Fksp mutatins. The aim of this work was to study a large collection of echinocandin resistant Candida strains. FKS1 mutations were the only cause of resistance in C. albicans and in C. krusei. FKS1 and FKS2 mutations were found in C. glabrata. On the other hand a naturally ocurring mutation in FKS1 was found in C. parapsilosis, C. orthopsilosis and C. metapsilosis.
