Resumen:
Cadherins and Metaloproteinases (MMPs) are related to multiple reproductive events. In recent studied the expression of E-cadherin and MMP2 in oviduct alpaca were determined. Th e aim of this study was to determine diff erences in the expression pattern of E-Cadherin and MMP2, in the oviduct of female alpaca at diff erent times of ovarian activity. We worked with oviduct samples of adult, nonlactating, nonpregnant alpacas, obtained in Huancavelica- Perú, categorizing them according to the presence of mature follicle in size and the presence or absence of corpus luteum in the ovaries. Th e oviducts were fi xed in formalin 10%, were separated in ampulla, isthmus and utero-tubal junction segments, and processed to evaluate the expression of E-Cadherin and MMP2 by LSAB immunohistochemistry, using a mouse monoclonal antibody for E-Cadherin (1:100) and a rabbit polyclonal antibody (1:200). Th e expression pattern of E-cadherin and MMP2 was evaluated in the mucosal epithelium of the oviductal, using a subjective rating score of 4 levels. Statistical analysis using Chi square test was performed. Tendency to diff erences in the pattern of expression of E-cadherin and MMP2, comparing the isthmus and ampulla between animals with mature follicle size in the presence or absence of CL was observed. Th ese fi ndings suggest that the expression of E-cadherin and MMP2 in alpaca oviductal mucosa could be involved in reproductive histophysiology of that organ.
