K-band spectroscopy of M83, the nearest starburst nucleus

We present a spectroscopic study of M83 nuclear region, based on K-band spectra (1.9-2.49, μm) obtained on Gemini-North, using the NIRI instrument (Near InfraRed Imager and spectrograph). Several stellar absorption lines and emission from de ionized gas are present in the spectral range chosen, allowing us to minimize dust effects in the gas emission, and to better characterize the underlying stellar population in this complex and dynamical scenario.
