Resumen:
Biologically breastfeeding requires a substantial increase in energy intake. In practice, mothers rely on culturally prescribed knowledge on what is good to eat or not during lactation. In quechua communities in Peru, I explore what are local beliefs and practice regarding lactation and nutrition.
