Resumen:
Oysters are generally consumed raw or lightly cooked and it could gives rise a health hazard when theseshellfish are contaminated of pathogenic microorganisms. Treatment of seafood with ionizing radiation isincreasing. Development of suitable method for identification of seafood irradiated is needed. This paperreports results from thermoluminescence (TL) analysis of the Oyster shell polyminera l fraction. TL methodwas used for identification of Oyster samples irradiated by 60Co gamma -rays doses from 80 Gy 10 kGy.The TL response of polymineral fraction irradiated was higher as compared to the unirradiated controlsamples, and by comparing the ratio of their glow curves the samples irradiated were well identified.Furthermore, the TL response as a function of dose was linear between 80 Gy to 2 kGy followed by asaturation region. The glow curves show an intense glow peak at 105°C following by o thers peaks centeredat high temperature side of the glow curves (160, 272, and 341 °C). The first glow peak (105°C) disappeareddue to fading after 15h. The experimental glow curves were deconvoluted by five peaks using a GCDprogram based on the general order kinetics. The activation energy value was calculated between 0.85-1.19eV and a good Figure Of Merit factor (2.4%) was obtained. The results show that the Oyster shellpolymineral powder have a good TL properties and can be useful for identification of seafood irradiated
