Resumen:
Polyester micro and nanoparticles are useful in pharmaceutics because of their ability to incorporate and release bioactive agents, enabling the distribution of drugs to the specific regions in the organism [1], allowing for the increase in the time it spends in the system, avoiding rapid chemical degradation due to external agents [2]. Poli(ε-caprolactona) (PCL) is a aliphatic linear polyester biocompatible, used in biomedical applications such as devices for controlled drug release [3]. The particles under analysis for this work are PCL particles generated by emulsification and evaporation of the solvent, with high potential for drug release. The study of the morphological properties of these particles is of special interest, because its shape and dimension determine the mechanisms of interaction and incorporation in the organism. In this work we developed an algorithm for detection and measurement of the particles diameter, using the Hough Transform (HT) from scanning electron microscope (SEM) images.
