Resumen:
The aim of this paper is to present a Morphological Power Spectrum as a novel tool for Digital Image Processing (DIP), based on concepts of Mathematical Morphology. The Morphological Power Spectrum is defined in relation to the application of multiscale morphological openings of structuring elements of growing size. As a result of these operations, the Morphological Power Spectrum (MPS) is obtained. With an appropriate MPS manipulation, a series of tools allowing the enhancement or filtering of zones of interest in images is obtained. This approach is especially efficient for images with gray-levels spatial dependence, in which the textural information provided is significant. In spite of the fact that, in this paper, its application is oriented towards DIP, this same tool could be applied to many other types of functions.
