Resumen:
HIV-specific antibodies are produce early in the course of infection and a statistically significant quantitative difference in the antibody titers among various clinical groups of patients could not be demonstrated. The aim of this study was to correlate the IFA antibodies titer and the staining patterns with the status of HIV infection/disease. Sera sample from the three categories of HIV-1 infected patients were studied for the presence of anti HIV-1 antibodies by indirect immunofluorescence assay; seronegative patients (n:12), asymptomatic seropositive patients (n:17) and patients with AIDS (n.18). Students´s t test for comparison of geometric means (xg) pf IFA antibodies titer between asymptomatic and AIDS patients were used. The HIV-1 IFA antibodies titer in the asymptomatic group were in all cases ≥ 8 (range 8-64) with a xg of 4,1176 meanwhile in the patients with AIDS the differences in the xg values between the two groups were statistically significant (p
