Resumen:
The structure and composition of ant communities associated with pasture, stubble and a mangrove forest of a reef origin island in the Colombian Caribbean were evaluated. For this sampling was performed at random points (10 and 30 in total coverage) during January 2011 following the partial protocol ALL. Of the 540 samples collected were obtained ants in 454, identifying 7 subfamilies, 16 genera and 45 species. Myrmicinae presented the highest abundance and richness with 216 samples of 16 species / morphospecies, which accounted for 48% of the total sample, followed by Formicinae with 100 samplesof 10 species / morphospecies (22% of total sample). More abundant genera (measured for number of traps) were Pheidole with 105 samples, Crematogaster with 79, Camponotus with 47 and Ectatomma with 42. The remaining genera were fewer than 40 samples, highlighting Monomorium and Cephalotes only with 2 samples and one were obtained of Linepithema. Crematogaster sp. 2 was the most abundant species / morphospecies followed by Ectatomma ruidum, Pheidole sp. 1 and Odontomachus hastatus. Thiswork allowed the identification of possible rates of species turnover between the island and the mainland.
