Resumen:
The Cerro Negro deposit is one of the most relevant Au-Ag epithermal system under exploration in the world, located in Deseado Massif, Santa Cruz. Electron microprobe analysis on the principal ore mineral assemblage reveals the presence of selenium in silver sulphides (acantithe) and sulphosalts (peraceite-polybasite and pyrargyrite) related to high Au-Ag grades. The results obtained add two new discoveries of selenium-rich minerals (pearcite and pyrargirite) in the region. The presence of selenium in silver sulphosalts could be related with the type of volcanism associated with high grade epithermal fluids.
