Resumen:
Several mechanisms have proposed to explain the tolerance to abiotic stress. However it?s not been clarified how plants regulate water homeostasis or its role in response to salt stress. In this study we examine the Beta vulgaris response under two different salt stress, 200 mM NaCl or 200 mM KCl, respect of its water relations. We decided to work with this plant model because Beta vulgaris can support these extreme conditions. Indeed, we observe a rapid recovery (less than 48h) when they are still under stress. In many studies, ions transporters and/or channels have been described as crucial elements in tolerance response, nevertheless the role of aquaporins and water regulation remain unclear.  Here, we present a physiological analysis about principal parameters associated to this particular response. In particular we focused on root relevance, the principal water entrance. Interestingly, the role of root cellular pathways it might be crucial to discerning between K or Na effect, suggesting different physiological mechanism involved in tolerance response.
