Resumen:
Process supervision is a fundamental task to support operator decisionsunder abnormal situations. Modern chemical processes are multifaceted in nature, their efficient management can not rely in a single classical  perspective;  the  interactionof  several  intelligent  systems  is  a  must. In  this  work,  a  knowledge based system for process supervision is presented. It is based in an ontology that specifies process supervision semantics, thus supporting reasoningand consistency checking. These features help to manage the expert knowledge sharedbetween enterprise applications, assisting the decision making process. The systemfunctionality has been illustrated in the Tennessee Eastman Process benchmark(Downs and Vogel,1993).
