Resumen:
In this paper the decoding of a medium size Low-Density Parity-Check Code (LDPC) is performed. We have designed a decoder that combines a Genetic Algorithm (GA) with a Majority Logic Process (MLPr). Genetic Algorithms were selected due to their capability to explore a given operating space using available performance measures. This work has considered the characterization of a channel typical for wireless communication. The performance of the proposed decoder is very close to the optimal sum-product decoder, with the additional advantage of not requiring knowledge of channel information (noise power). The fitness function and parameters of the GA can be adjusted to improve the Bit Error Rate performance and/or to reduce complexity of the proposed decoder.
