Resumen:
In the last years, livestock production in Argentina has been displaced  to areassubjected to abiotic stresses, such as water, salinity, light, and temperature stresses, amongothers. Hence, efforts have been focused on identifying forage species adapted to thoselimiting conditions to complement the low productivity of natural pastures, mainly in summerwhen they are scarce. An increase in forage production potential leads to greater carryingcapacity, which contributes to the development of livestock production .Establishment of introduced pastures to improve livestock systems requires a previousidentification of the species that can adapt to those areas and that show persistence andpotential to improve forage production.
