Resumen:
To the question how to make political films in the Third World?, Glauber Rocha answered: "Cinema´s greatest contradiction is its own language". It is necesary to put everything in trance, to recast new ways of looking and to begin all over again. In Argentina, the dialogue with Godard and the ruptures of counter-cinema were less conflictive more fluent and, probably, more obedient. But it is possible to recognize an attitude similar to Rocha´s regarding the need of recasting a new gaze on different grounds. I want to look at the complex relationship between avant-garde aesthetics and political radicalism in Argentina, during the years before the military coup d´état in 1976. In this dynamic moment, both entities coexisted in tension while potentiating each other.
