Resumen:
Laguna Chasilauquen is an evaporitic deposit situated in the western region of the Buenos Aires province. In this paper, its geological and geochemical features are shown. This salt body is of singular importance because represent the only active superficial sulphate deposit in the Buenos Aires province. The main minerals exploited are mirabilite and thenardite. The salt content of Laguna Chasilauquen is closely linked to alkaline underground waters whose lixiviates the sediments of the Pampiano Formation.
