Resumen:
In this presentation the status of this research project was shown and future plans discussed. We showed that we were able to establish mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) cultures (at P7), characterized by specific markers and differentiation potential. Our data suggest that application of MSCs through the tail vein in a C57Bl/6 cirrhosis model, induced by thioacetamide, is able to ameliorate liver fibrosis. Nevertheless, no MSCs were found in the liver after 14 days. Interestingly, abundant CMDiI+ MSCs were found in the liver parenchyma at 7 days after MSC infusion, by both bioluminometer and microscopic observations. Other MSC application rutes were also analyzed, such as intrasplenic and intrahepatic (subcapsular) ones.
