Resumen:
The objective of the present research consist on studying the typeof structure (columnar, equiaxial or with the columnar to equiaxedtransition, CET) using solidification and electrochemicalparameters in Zn-Al alloys with different concentrations (Zn-2%Al, Zn-4wt%Al, Zn-16wt%Al and Zn-27wt%Al, weightpercent).In order to obtain columnar, equiaxial and the CET structures, thealloys were directionally solidified upwards in an experimental setup with a set of thermocouples in the samples which permit todetermine the time dependent profiles during growth. From theseprofiles and the location of thermocouples it was possible tocalculate the cooling rates, growth velocities and the temperaturegradients along the samples. The electrochemical studies in thesamples were realized by electrochemical impedancespectroscopy and polarization curves.
