Resumen:
Sustainedocean observations provide crucial data to understand marine ecosystems, helpmonitoring the impacts of long-term climate change and implement adaptation andmitigation strategies. Effectivemonitoring of marine ecosystems requires sustained regional networks ofphysical, biological, and biogeochemical time series observations thatintegrate shipboard, autonomous, and remote sensing platforms. Sustained andincreased high quality observations are needed in all regions of the oceans, however it’s clear that more information has been gathered in the northerncompared to the southern hemisphere. Even though maintaining sustained oceantime series is challenging all over the world, especially after the pandemic,it’s even more for countries that have limited availability of resources. Inspite of this, different efforts have been put into strengthening marineecological observing capacity in Latin America and fostering globalcollaboration and networking in order to advance in science and expand and improvemeasurements. This presentation aims to show the currentstatus of different efforts that are being devoted to enhance oceanobservations around Latin America.
