Preliminary results of impact studies carried out by SMN-Argentina

A verification of L2 temperature and humidity soundings was carried out, showing a reasonable performance of IASI, NUCAPS and AIRS, considering a 45-days field campaign radiosondes data in central Argentina. Also, IASI and NUCAPS L2 retrievals were successfully assimilated in a high resolution regional NWP model for a case study. The impact in 1 hour forecasts of assimilating both temperature and humidity profiles from NUCAPS was beneficial for this case study. An extended period should be used to get stronger EFSOI conclusions.
