Selective hydrodeoxygenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) to 2,5 dimethylfuran (DMF) with bimetallic Ir/Ni catalyst over biomass derived active carbon

Resumen:
The present researchwork is focused on the production of activated carbon peanut casings and itsapplication in the production of biofuels. Experimental tests have been carried out under differentconditions at each stage of the process, carbonization and activation, in order to maximize the BETsurface area and porosity of the final product. The best material was obtained with an area of 1400m2/gm. Co-impregnation with Ir Ni was carried out to generate active sites that favored the HDOreaction of 5-HMF. A yield of 96 % was obtained for the IrNi bimetallic catalyst on biochar producedpeanut shells.
