Resumen:
Stellar activity can be an important constraint on the detection of terrestrial-type extrasolar planets. In particular, stellar cycles generate spurious signals in radial velocity with the same periodicity as that of a potential planetary companion. In the present contribution, we study the long-term activity of a sample of M stars with high- resolution spectra from the database of the SOPHIE spectrograph installed on the 1.93 m telescope at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence (CNRS), France. We have a sample of 337 M dwarfs, with a total of 5405 high-resolution spectra (R>40,000) with an S/N>50 ratio, in order to obtain a reliable indicator of the activity. Finally, we studied the long-term activity in those stars that were repeatedly observed for more than 9 years and detected 18 new activity cycles in a subsample of 40 M dwarfs.
