Resumen:
In this work, a new electrical circuit analogy is introduced for a mechanical motion rectifier (MMR)-based wave energy converter (WEC). The equivalent circuit is subdivided into three main parts: the fluid-structure interaction, the MMR, and the controlled load. The derived circuit is used to implementthe well-known reactive control strategy under regular waves excitation. The performance of the MMR-based WEC is compared to that of a non-MMR device. The analysis of the results shows how the nonlinearities introduced by the MMR affect the implementation of the reactive control. Finally, a time-domain nonlinear optimization of the controlled load is conducted for the MMR-based WEC for the most common ocean wave frequencies.
