Development of a forward operator for lighting data assimilation

For assimilating GLM lightning data in NWP models, it is important to have a forward operator that forecasts lightning in the model. Therefore, we tested different proxies used in previous works and also tried a machine-learning approach. In the presentation, we aim to show the results of the evaluation, the ongoing work, and future steps.
