Resumen:
BackgroundRenal transplantation is the standard treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease. Graft survival is mainly determined by rejections and infectious complications in transplant recipients. Torque Teno Virus (TTV), a nonpathogenic and ubiquitous ssDNA virus, has been proposed as a biomarker of the immune status in transplant patients. Objectives: to determine the correlation between a TTV Home Brew PCR and a commercial PCR (R-GENE®PCR), and to determine TTV viral load kinetics in renal transplant recipients and the association with graft rejection.MethodsA prospective cohort study on adult renal transplant recipients, transplanted between November 2018 and April 2021, is being conducted at CEMIC University Hospital, Argentina.TTV viral load was determined by Home Brew PCR and R-GENE®PCR. For graft rejection association, TTV viral load was determined in the last sample obtained before the graft rejection event.ResultsTTV viral load was determined in 746 plasma samples from 107 renal transplant patients.Agreement of both PCR assays was 93.2% and Pearson correlation coefficient was r: 0.902 (95%CI: 0.888-0.915, p
