Resumen:
This paper introduces a novel strategy to prevent stalling of a genset when subjected to sudden loading. The analysis focuses on the relationship between genset stalling and mechanical dynamics, putting particular attention to the electromagnetic torque and its dependency on the currents flowing through the synchronous generator. Based on this analysis, the goal of this proposal is to prevent stalling by reducing the excitation of the rotor windings, which was shown to work successfully without causing undesired undervoltage. The effectiveness of the strategy proposed is verified through simulations when purely resistive loads are considered.
