Resumen:
It has been previously reported that chronotype is associated with glycemic control in type 2 diabetic (DM2) patients; but there is no evidence of its relationship with lipid levels in DM2. The objective of this work was to evaluate the contribution of chronotype and gender to the blood lipid control in type 2 diabetic (DM2) outpatients. A total of 270 DM2 subjects, 193 women (24 to 82 years old) and 97 men (26 to 79 years old), were interviewed and screened for diurnal preference (Horne-Östberg questionnaire). Shift workers were excluded. Total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), triglycerides (Trg) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) values were extracted from medical records collected during a 1 to 5 years period depending on the patient. ANOVA was performed and mean test (Scott & Knott, Tukey and LSD) for a significance level of p
